GAZ-66系列是高尔基汽车制造厂GAZ-63系列的换代产品，1964年投产，有多种变型车，1968年后的产品均装轮胎中央充放气系统。GAZ-66系列为苏军广泛采用，民用上也有不少用途。GAZ-66采用86kW的八缸水冷汽油发动机、4前进挡1倒挡机械变速箱、二速分动箱、液压助力转向装置、液压制动系统，纵置半椭圆钢板弹簧悬挂。最高车速95 km／h，最大爬坡度60％，涉水深度0.8 m。GAZ-66直到1999年被GAZ-3308所取代。
