The Wellington GR Mk XIV was an anti-submarine Wimpy carrying nose mounted ASV Mk III cent-metric radar and a Leigh Light. To install the radar the nose turret was removed, however, some machines had the outline of a turret painted on to disguise the fact that they were unarmed at the nose. Similar to the GR Mk XIII, the GR Mk XIV was also powered by the 1,735 hp Hercules engine. Production was 841 with machines being built at all three plants, large number of Mk XIVs flew missions from bomber Command airfields along the South Coast of England. Upwards often enemy U-Boats were sent to the bottom of the narrow channel.
